Lipotransfer – Transplantation of adipose tissue

The effects of fat transplant surgery

Lipotransfer is a transplant of own fat tissue from the place where it occurs in excess in the area where the loss of volume occurred. The result is not only the slimming of specific parts of the body, but also the improvement of skin condition and body shaping. Therapy allows you to do face volumetry without using a scalpel. And it is using only your own cells – without any other filling material, which minimizes the risk of allergies and other complications. Lipotransfer is an ideal solution for filling wrinkles or furrows, cheek modeling and lip correction. This method is also used in the case of fat loss in various parts of the body. It can also be used in the treatment of unsightly scars resulting from mechanical trauma. An additional advantage of this natural filler is usually its large amount, hence the possibility of a large filling.

What does a fat transplant surgery look like?

Like all medical procedures, the treatment is preceded by a thorough medical consultation. This allows you to verify the indications and possible contraindications to the therapy. The specialist determines what place we want to correct and what part of the fat will be collected. Before starting the essential part of the fat graftingtherapy, anesthesia of the donor site is performed. A small incision is made at the site of tissue harvesting, so as to allow the insertion of a special needle – a cannula. With its help, fat cells will be collected. The incision size usually does not exceed 3 mm and does not leave scars. The obtained tissues are prepared in order to obtain a suspension of fat and stem cells with optimal density and volume. The transferred fat tissue is suspended in a small amount of aspirated plasma and inter-tissue fluid. It is rich in various growth factors and nutrients. This has the effect of stimulating the regenerative processes of the skin, which improves its condition. Adipose tissue is administered with the help of microcannula which reduces the trauma during the procedure and the treatment is practically painless. When filling the adipose tissue, only a part of the transplanted cells will be filled and permanently filled with the defect, hence a small over-correction is usually performed.

Time of treatment

The treatment lasts from 120 to 180 minutes.

The recovery period after the fat transplant surgery

The most common undesirable effects of the treatment include: bruises, hematomas or local edema at the site of adipose tissue collection. These changes usually resolve to two weeks. Due to the fact that skin continuity is interrupted, the procedure is associated with a small risk of infection. This situation is prevented by performing a lipotransfer under an antibiotic cover.

The duration of the effects of the fat transplant surgery

Changes related to the correction of the shape of the face or other parts of the body are visible immediately after the treatment. The final results are fully visible after about 3 months from the lipotransfer. The tissue that is filled in is functioning on the same principles as the entire body fat.

The presented description of the procedure is of general character and does not constitute medical information. The basis for the operation is always an individual medical consultation.
