What the treatment involves

A brow lift (lateral temporal subcutaneous brow lift) is a surgical procedure that raises drooping eyebrows, particularly in their outer third. With age, the skin of the upper face loses elasticity and the eyebrows descend, giving the face a tired, dimmed expression.

Raising the eyebrows opens up the gaze and refreshes the appearance of the face. The procedure is performed by a surgeon after a consultation — it can be carried out on its own when the eyelid skin is in good condition, or as a complement to upper eyelid surgery.

Indications

A brow lift is worth considering when you experience:

  • drooping eyebrows or a change in their natural shape
  • lax skin losing elasticity in the upper face
  • loss of natural fatty tissue in this area
  • a tired, “heavy” expression of the gaze
  • a need to complement the results of upper eyelid surgery

How the treatment works

After a consultation and medical assessment, the surgeon administers local anesthesia. The procedure is most often combined with eyelid surgery but can also be performed on its own, taking from around 40 minutes to 2 hours.

The surgeon removes an elliptical strip of skin from the hair-bearing area of the temple, releases the subcutaneous tissues up to the level of the brow ridge, and frees the ligaments anchoring the brow complex. The eyebrows are then given the desired shape and fixed with sutures to the deeper tissues. The scar is concealed within the hairline or along its border, making it nearly invisible. With the direct method (Direct Brow Lift), the surgeon excises an elliptical strip of skin directly above the brow line, precisely correcting asymmetry and “opening” the gaze.

Results

You gain elevated, better-shaped eyebrows, firmer skin in the upper face, and a more rested, youthful appearance. The final result is visible once the swelling subsides.

The results are long-lasting — usually 3 to 10 years, depending on the pace and intensity of the aging process and your skin's individual predispositions.

Aftercare

Proper care of the wound and sutures speeds up healing and improves the appearance of the scar. Remember to:

  • wear dressings for about 7 days as directed
  • limit hair washing and long, hot baths
  • avoid intense facial expressions and raising your eyebrows during the first days
  • take the recommended pain relief medication if needed
  • come in for suture removal between day 7 and day 14
  • protect the area from the sun and apply SPF
  • avoid physical exertion until fully healed

Contraindications

We do not perform it in cases such as:

  • blood clotting disorders
  • uncontrolled chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension)
  • active viral or bacterial infections
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • certain autoimmune and cancerous diseases
  • a tendency to keloid scarring (a relative contraindication)
  • allergy to anesthetic agents

Final eligibility is determined by the surgeon during the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Is a brow lift painful?+

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you feel no pain. Once it wears off, you may notice a sensation of tightness, which is eased by pain relief medication.

Where is the scar located?+

The scar's location depends on the chosen technique. With a Direct Brow Lift, the scar sits at the upper edge of the eyebrow, so once healed it is hidden among the brow hairs. With a temporal lift (Lateral Temporal Subcutaneous Brow Lift), the scar is concealed within the hairline or along its border near the temple, making it nearly invisible once healed.

How long do the results last?+

The results of a brow lift are long-lasting — usually 3 to 10 years, depending on the pace of the aging process and the condition of your skin.

Can I combine it with eyelid surgery?+

Yes, a brow lift is often performed as a complement to upper eyelid blepharoplasty. It can also be a standalone procedure when the eyelid skin is in good condition.

When can I return to work?+

You can usually return to professional activity right after the sutures are removed, between day 7 and day 14. Full recovery takes around 3–4 weeks.

How much does a brow lift cost?+

A brow lift starts from 4000 zł. Combined with upper eyelid surgery — a common choice, as both concerns typically appear together — it starts from 8000 zł. The final quote is confirmed by the surgeon during your consultation.

Which brow lift techniques do you perform?+

We perform surgical brow lifts using the temporal technique (an incision hidden within the hair-bearing skin of the temple) and the direct brow lift. We do not perform endoscopic lifts. The surgeon selects the technique based on your facial anatomy and desired result.
