Botulinum Toxin Injection

Botox (botulinum toxin) is one of the most thoroughly researched treatments in aesthetic medicine — it precisely smooths expression lines on the forehead, around the eyes, and between the brows, giving a natural, rested look.

What the treatment involves

Botox, or botulinum toxin, is a purified protein that temporarily and reversibly reduces the tension of selected facial muscles. By limiting their excessive contractions, it smooths dynamic wrinkles and prevents them from deepening.

The procedure is performed by a doctor, following a consultation and medical interview. The result is natural — expression is preserved, and the face looks rested rather than “frozen.” The effect is temporary, which is why the treatment is usually repeated 2–3 times a year.

Indications

Botox works well both for smoothing wrinkles and for treating selected conditions. The most common indications are:

  • expression lines: horizontal forehead lines, the “frown line” between the brows, “crow's feet” around the eyes
  • drooping corners of the mouth and facial asymmetry
  • excessive sweating of the armpits, hands, and feet
  • bruxism and hypertrophy of the masseter muscles (excessive teeth clenching)
  • tension headaches and chronic migraines
  • prevention — slowing down the setting-in of wrinkles

How the treatment works

The treatment is preceded by a consultation, during which the doctor assesses your facial expression, defines the scope of treatment, and discusses your expectations and any contraindications.

We cleanse the skin and apply local anesthesia. The product is administered as a series of precise micro-injections with a fine needle — most people compare the sensation to a mosquito bite. The entire procedure usually takes 15–30 minutes and requires no recovery.

Results

The first effects appear after 5–7 days, and the full result is visible after about 14 days. Expression lines are smoothed, features soften, and the gaze becomes more open and rested.

The effect usually lasts 4–6 months. Repeating the treatment regularly extends its action and slows the formation of new, set-in wrinkles.

Aftercare

Botox requires no recovery — you return to your daily activities right away. During the first hours and days, however, it is worth keeping a few rules in mind:

  • do not touch or massage the injection sites for a few hours
  • for 24 hours, avoid intense physical exertion and alcohol
  • for about 2 weeks, avoid the sauna, tanning bed, and prolonged overheating of the face

We have also compiled detailed clinical recommendations following botulinum toxin injection. We assess the full effect after about 2 weeks; minor bruising, swelling, or tenderness may occur temporarily — report any unusual symptoms to the clinic:

  • do not travel by plane for at least 24 hours
  • for about 2 weeks, do not press or massage the injection sites — also postpone facial massages and cosmetic treatments
  • for 14 days, avoid the sun, tanning bed, sauna, and other heat sources in the treated area
  • postpone any scheduled surgical procedures requiring anesthesia by about 2 weeks

Contraindications

Like any medical procedure, botox has contraindications. We do not perform the treatment in cases such as:

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • neuromuscular diseases (e.g. myasthenia)
  • blood clotting disorders
  • active infections or skin inflammation at the treatment site
  • allergy to the product's ingredients
  • taking certain medications (e.g. aminoglycosides) — inform your doctor about this

Final eligibility for the treatment is always determined by the doctor during the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Is botox safe?+

Yes. Botulinum toxin is one of the most thoroughly researched products in aesthetic medicine, used for decades. The procedure is performed by a doctor, and its effect is reversible and temporary.

When are the effects of botox visible?+

The first effects appear after 5–7 days, and the full result after about 14 days.

How long does the effect last?+
