Hair loss treatment

Hair loss treatment at the Dr Kuschill MEDESTETIS clinics (Krakow and Warsaw) is based on the Dr CYJ Hair Filler product. It is a peptide filler combining hyaluronic acid with a complex of seven peptides, administered directly into the scalp.

The peptides act on the hair follicle: they extend the growth phase (anagen), delay the transition into the shedding phase and improve microcirculation in the scalp. The hyaluronic acid provides hydration and a gradual release of the active ingredients.

The therapy requires a series of treatments. Its effectiveness depends on the cause and severity of the problem, which is why we start with a trichological consultation with trichoscopy — sometimes parallel treatment of a systemic cause is necessary.

We consider the therapy for excessive hair loss and weakened hair. The most common indications are:

• excessive hair loss (telogen)
• thinning hair and reduced density
• weakened, thin hair in poor condition
• early-stage androgenetic hair loss
• hair loss after pregnancy, illness or under stress

The qualification is decided by the doctor after assessing the scalp and taking a history. In some cases parallel treatment of a systemic cause is advisable — the treatment alone does not replace diagnostics.

The treatment is preceded by a trichological consultation with scalp trichoscopy, which allows assessment of the condition of the hair follicles and selection of the therapy plan.

We administer the Dr CYJ Hair Filler product using the point injection technique into the scalp, in the areas of greatest thinning. The treatment usually lasts 20–30 minutes and requires no anesthesia — the needles are very fine and the sensation is limited to a brief prick.

The standard protocol is a series of 4 treatments performed every 2 weeks, followed by maintenance treatments.

The first effect is usually reduced hair loss, noticeable after a few weeks from the start of the series.

The improvement in hair density and condition builds up gradually — a full assessment of the effect takes up to a few months, because hair grows slowly. The effect requires maintenance.

After the scalp treatment it is worth following a few simple rules:

• do not wash your hair for the time recommended by the doctor (usually a dozen or so hours)
• avoid intense scratching and massaging of the scalp for the first 24 hours
• for 1–2 days avoid the sauna, pool, solarium and intense exertion (sweating)
• protect the scalp from the sun
• postpone hair coloring and chemical treatments until the time agreed with the doctor
• follow the recommendations regarding care and any supplementary therapy

Transient redness, tenderness or slight swelling of the scalp are typical and usually resolve quickly. Any worrying symptoms should be reported to the clinic.
