What the treatment involves
The erbium-YAG fractional laser (Er:YAG) with a wavelength of 2940 nm is one of the light beams best absorbed by water, which makes it a highly precise tool for skin renewal. The energy covers only 15–20% of the surface, creating thermal microzones surrounded by healthy tissue.
This fractional mode of action combines the effectiveness of ablative resurfacing with shorter recovery and a lower risk of complications than classic, full-surface laser treatments.
Indications
The treatment works well primarily for:
- acne and post-traumatic scars
- stretch marks
- wrinkles and fine folds
- uneven skin tone and texture
- enlarged pores
- signs of photoaging (a peeling and resurfacing effect)
How the treatment works
The treatment is preceded by a consultation and the selection of parameters. We numb the skin with a lidocaine cream for your comfort.
The laser beam creates micro-injuries in the skin that trigger the process of intercellular rebuilding. The procedure takes 30–60 minutes, and afterwards we apply cooling.
Results
The skin becomes smoother, scars and stretch marks soften, and skin tone evens out. Intense production of new collagen is set in motion.
The first effects are visible after 10–14 days, and with a series of treatments the results can last for up to 2 years.
Aftercare
Immediately after the treatment the skin is red and irritated, and small scabs may appear. Recovery usually does not exceed 7 days. Remember to:
- avoid sun exposure for about 4 weeks and use a high SPF
- care for your skin with the soothing creams recommended by your cosmetologist
- not pick at the scabs and protect your skin from overheating
Our post-treatment protocol for laser therapy also applies. The effect builds over several to a dozen or so weeks, often after a series of treatments; report any unusual symptoms to the clinic:
- cleanse your skin with gentle products during the first week
- for the first 72 hours, avoid intense exercise such as running or strength training
- postpone the pool and sauna until the epidermis has fully healed
- protect your skin from the sun for up to 6 months and use SPF 50+ to prevent discoloration
Contraindications
We do not perform this treatment in cases such as:
- pregnancy and breastfeeding
- bacterial or viral skin infection
- taking isotretinoin within the last 6–9 months
- scleroderma, radiotherapy and healing disorders
- immune disorders
- a tendency to cold sores and very dark skin (phototype VI)
Final qualification is carried out by the cosmetologist during the consultation.

The Er:YAG works more superficially and is more strongly absorbed by water, which usually means shorter recovery with good resurfacing effectiveness.
