What the treatment involves
Hands age faster than the face and most often reveal age first. This is due to three independent processes: loss of subcutaneous tissue, through which tendons and vessels become visible, deterioration of skin quality and firmness, and sun-induced discolouration.
That is why we approach rejuvenation of the back of the hands on multiple fronts - matching the method to what predominates in a given case. We usually combine volume replenishment with work on the colour and smoothness of the skin.
Indications
The most common indications are:
- loss of subcutaneous tissue and visible tendons and vessels
- loss of firmness and skin tone of the hands
- sun-induced discolouration and solar lentigines
- rough, dehydrated skin on the back of the hands
- fine wrinkles and crepiness of the skin
How the treatment works
The treatment is preceded by a consultation, during which we assess which of the ageing processes predominates - the choice of method depends on this.
For loss of volume, we administer cross-linked hyaluronic acid with a blunt-tipped microcannula, which reduces the risk of bruising. When the problem is skin quality, we reach for a hydrating product.
We reduce discolouration with light, and improve the structure and smoothness of the skin with a fractional laser (2940 nm or CO2) or a 1927 nm thulium laser. The methods can be combined within a single plan, spreading them across separate visits.
Results
After the product is administered, the hands immediately look fuller - tendons and vessels become less visible. The effect usually lasts from 6 to 12 months.
The improvement in colour after laser treatments builds up over several weeks, as the discolouration exfoliates and the collagen is remodelled. Reduced discolouration does not return, provided you protect your hands from the sun.
Aftercare
For several days after the product is administered, swelling or bruising is possible. During this time, avoid the sauna, swimming pool and intense exercise.
After laser treatments, the skin may be red and sensitive. SPF 50 sun protection on the hands is crucial - without it, discolouration returns quickly.

- active infections and inflammation of the hand skin
- coagulation disorders and anticoagulant treatment
- autoimmune diseases in a flare-up phase
- a tendency to keloids
- a tan or recent sun exposure (for laser treatments)

We numb the skin with a cream and administer the product with a microcannula, so the treatment is well tolerated. With laser treatments, a brief warmth and stinging are felt.
How many treatments are needed?+
Replenishing volume is usually a single treatment. Reducing discolouration and improving skin quality most often requires a series of 2-3 treatments a few weeks apart.
Can the product be combined with a laser?+
