Tissue stimulators

Tissue stimulators are injectable products based on hyaluronic acid or polynucleotides that prompt the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin — improving hydration, firmness and overall skin quality rather than filling wrinkles.

What the treatment involves

Tissue stimulators are a group of injectable products whose purpose is not to fill or reshape the features, but to prompt the skin to regenerate from within. Instead of adding volume, they „wake up” the fibroblasts — the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin — so that the skin gradually becomes firmer, better hydrated and more elastic.

At the Dr Kuschill MEDESTETIS clinics in Krakow and Warsaw we mainly use two proven solutions. The first is a stabilized, hybrid hyaluronic acid combining high and low molecular weight fractions without chemical cross-linking (BDDE). The second solution is based on polynucleotides (PDRN/PN) — bioactive DNA fragments with regenerating and anti-inflammatory action.

Both products belong to evidence-based aesthetic medicine: their action has been assessed in independent clinical studies that observed improvements in hydration, firmness and skin quality. The effect is biological in nature and builds over time — this is not an immediate change of the features, but a gradual improvement in skin condition.

The choice of a specific stimulator, the number of treatments and the injection sites is always preceded by a medical consultation. It is the doctor who assesses the skin's condition, qualifies for the treatment and plans the therapy to individual needs.

Indications

Tissue stimulators are aimed at people who want to improve their skin quality rather than correct a specific wrinkle or replenish volume. They work well in cases including:

  • loss of firmness, tone and elasticity of the skin
  • dry, gray and tired skin
  • the first signs of aging and prevention (skin „without a specific flaw” but losing freshness)
  • laxity of the skin on the face, neck, décolletage and hands
  • fine, superficial wrinkles related to dehydration
  • a desire to improve overall skin condition after summer or as preparation for other treatments

How the treatment works

The treatment begins with a consultation, skin assessment and medical qualification. We cleanse and disinfect the skin and, if needed, apply a numbing cream.

The product is administered with a fine needle at several points (a hyaluronic biostimulator classically using the BAP technique — 5 points per half of the face) or by the mesotherapy method over the indicated area. The treatment itself usually lasts 20–40 minutes.

Tissue stimulators are most often used in a series of 2–3 treatments at 3–4 week intervals — this gives the skin time to trigger its regenerative processes. The therapy plan and number of repetitions is set by the doctor during the consultation.

Results

Effects appear gradually and build up — the skin becomes better hydrated, more toned, smoother and more elastic, and its complexion looks healthier and more rested. The fullest result is usually observed after the series is completed and a few weeks have passed since the last treatment.

Clinical studies of hybrid hyaluronic acid and polynucleotides have recorded improvements in skin tone, smoothness and hydration. The effects are individual in nature and require maintenance — they are not permanent once and for all, which is why the treatments are usually repeated periodically.

Aftercare

Tissue stimulators usually do not take you out of daily activities, but for a few days it is worth being gentle with the skin. You will receive the recommendations in writing; most often they include:

  • gentle skin cleansing and avoiding vigorous rubbing of the injection sites
  • avoiding makeup on the day of the treatment (usually for about 12–24 h)
  • refraining from the sauna, pool, intense exertion and hot baths for a few days
  • sun protection (SPF) and avoiding the solarium
  • not consuming alcohol and avoiding blood-thinning medication (if the doctor so advises) in the treatment area

Contraindications

Tissue stimulators are medical treatments, which is why a doctor qualifies patients for them. Contraindications include:

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • active infection at the treatment site (e.g. herpes, purulent acne lesions)
  • active autoimmune diseases
  • blood clotting disorders or taking strong blood-thinning medication
  • a tendency toward keloids
  • allergy to any component of the product
  • cancer during treatment

The final qualification and exclusion of contraindications is carried out by the doctor during the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

How do tissue stimulators differ from fillers?+

Fillers add volume and correct specific wrinkles or folds, whereas tissue stimulators prompt the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin, improving its overall quality, hydration and firmness.

Does the treatment hurt?+

The injections are small and usually well tolerated. If needed we use a numbing cream, and most people describe the treatment as mildly noticeable but not painful.

How many treatments are needed?+

A series of 2–3 treatments at 3–4 week intervals is most often recommended. The exact plan is set by the doctor during the consultation, depending on the skin's condition and the therapy goal.

When will I see effects and how long do they last?+

Effects build up gradually — fullest after the series is completed and a few weeks have passed. They usually last several months and require periodic maintenance; results are individual.

Are tissue stimulators safe?+

The products used have safety profiles documented by studies, and the treatment is performed by a doctor after qualification. As with any injection, transient redness, swelling or minor bruising is possible.

Does the treatment take me out of daily activities?+

Usually not — most people return to their activities immediately or the next day. For a few days it is only worth avoiding the sauna, intense exertion and sunbathing.

How much does a tissue stimulator treatment cost?+

Prices depend on the product — from about 1 500 to 2 000 zł per treatment. The type of stimulator is selected by the doctor during the consultation, depending on the skin's needs and the desired effect.
