Treatment of hyperhidrosis

When is it worth thinking about treating hyperhidrosis?

Excessive local sweating usually occurring in the area of the armpits, hands and feet is a rare but extremely embarrassing problem. Its occurrence is not only physical, but above all, psychological discomfort that leads to the loss of self-confidence, and sometimes even to deeper disturbances in interpersonal communication. That is why it is so important to treat hyperhidrosis whenever it affects our mood and relationships with other people.

What can cause excessive sweating?

It is assumed that the problem of excessive sweating affects about 1% of the population and is a consequence of excessive activity of the sweat glands. The causes of excessive sweating can be divided into:

  • physiological factors such as: physical exertion, emotions, stress, eating certain foods, climacteric,
  • and diseases such as: hormonal disorders (hyperthyroidism, diabetes), neurological (neuropathies), viral and bacterial infections (AIDS, tuberculosis), some tumors (tumor adrenal glands, Hodgkin’s disease), poisoning (acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, pesticides).

Purpose of hyperhidrosis treatment

The aim of treatment is to block the nerves supplying the sweat glands in the treated areas, which in turn leads to the prevention of excessive secretion of sweat. Therapy is based on several repeated treatments that lead to the “unmanage” of sweat glands from excessive sweat production.
