Treatment of hyperhidrosis

When is it worth thinking about treating hyperhidrosis?

In the case of extremely uncomfortable sweating in the armpits, hands and feet.

What can be the cause of excessive sweating?

It is assumed that the problem of excessive sweating affects 1% of the population and is a consequence of excessive activity of the sweat glands. The reasons for increased sweating can be divided into:

  • physiological such as: physical exertion, emotions, stress, eating certain dishes, climacteric,
  • diseases such as: hormonal disorders (hyperthyroidism, diabetes), neurological (neuropathies), viral and bacterial infections (AIDS, tuberculosis), some cancers (adrenal tumor, Hodgkin’s disease), poisoning (acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, pesticides).

Purpose of hyperhidrosis treatment

The purpose of treatment is to block the nerves supplying the sweat glands in the treated areas – in effect, to prevent excessive secretion of sweat. Repeating the elements of the therapy several times allows for “weaning” glands from increased work.
